June 2015: Physics & Astronomy faculty members named University Distinguished Professors
Each year, ten Michigan State University faculty members are designated as University Distinguished Professors, one of the highest honors that can be granted to faculty members by the university, in recognition of their achievements in teaching, research and community involvement.
At its June 17th meeting, the MSU Board of Trustees approved MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon's recommendations for the ten recipients in 2015. Among them were Physics & Astronomy professors Hendrik Schatz and Michael Thoennessen and Chemistry professor Marcos Dantos, who holds an adjunct professorship in the Department of Physics & Astronomy.
