Teaching Physics in the time of COVID-19
The faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Physics and Astronomy have been working incredibly hard to make the rapid transition to online teaching as successful as it can be. The picture is from the second week of March and shows professors Matt Comstock, Lisa Lapidus, and Jaideep Singh and their teaching assistants (and photographer Stuart Tessmer) in the PHY 222 Physics for Life Scientists course preparing for the online transition. PHY 221/222 is a new, innovative sequence of courses combining a physics curriculum built around applications to biological systems along with active learning principles. The transition of all of our courses has benefited from the Department's long and successful history of utilizing technological advances to make our teaching better and more effective.
