PA Department Independent Study Process

PHY Majors

Your instructor will determine the number of credits based on the anticipated average workload of the project. 

PHY 205 (1 - 3 credits) – First and second year students

PHY 305 (1 - 3 credits) – Third year students

PHY 405 (1 - 3 credits) – Fourth year students

1. Fill out the form with your instructor
2. Tip: Have your instructor print their name next to their signature line.  
3. Send  the signed and completed form to Dr. Tessmer, tessmer@msu.edu, PA Undergraduate Director, for approval.   Copy Jennifer Roberts, millarje@msu.edu, Undergraduate Secretary and Joyce Mathew, samueljo@msu.edu, PA Academic Advisor.  
4. Once approved, Jennifer will add the course to the student’s schedule.

 

AST Majors

AST 310 (1 - 4 credits) – any level for AST majors
