Wellness Resources for Graduate Students

While being a graduate student is exciting and a great undertaking to further your knowledge and career, it can also be stressful. It is important to take care of yourself and to have strategies and pursue activities in support of your well-being. MSU graduate school has a good site about Graduate Student Life, including resources related to wellness and mental health. In addition, the Department of Physics & Astronomy maintains a list of Wellness and Counseling Resources

It is important to be conscious about the well-being of yourself and of others. If you are concerned about your well-being or that of other graduate students, please contact one of the Graduate Program Directors, Stuart Tessmer and Carko Piermarocchi (pa.gradchair@msu.edu), someone else in the Department you feel you can talk to, or refer to the resources provided on this page. For students at FRIB, you can also contact the FRIB Associate Director for Education, Workforce, and Career Development, Remco Zegers (zegers@frib.msu.edu).

We encourage graduate students in our department to reach out to any faculty or staff member if they have questions or concerns, or seek advice. At the same time, we realize it is sometimes easier to be able to reach out to a person whom you share an experience, identity, and/or background. It is not always easy to find such a person or to know whether they’d be open to talk with you. To make this easier, we have a created a list of faculty who volunteered to serve as points of contact and share part of their experience, identity, and/or background. This list can be found at this link. You need to be a graduate student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and log into MSU Google Drive with your @msu.edu email address and password to access the list.
